Getting started:

How did you get started in sales?

This is quite simple; after I finished college, I needed a job. I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do but after searching for so many different roles, I got offered a job in advertising sales and loved it. After that, I couldn’t see myself doing anything else!

If you knew then what you know now, what mistakes might you have avoided?

I don’t want to avoid any of my mistakes, otherwise I wouldn’t have learned from them!

What advice would you have given yourself when you were starting out?

I never meant to get into sales, but I have learned that no two salespeople are the same!  Do not try to be something or someone you’re not. Work hard, do your best, and don’t give up!

What is the best piece of advice you have received so far?

You will never succeed if you never try.

What is in the most exciting emerging technology you have been involved with?

IoT (Internet of Things) is not something that I have been involved with, however I can see how it could have huge impact on future products on the market.

Your career at tvONE:

How did you get involved in AV?

I was working in London and wanted to return home, so an agency got me an interview at an AV company doing internal sales in York.  That company was Saville Audio visual (now called Visavi), and the rest is history!

Why did you want to work with tvONE?

I had been traveling and returned to the UK and got a job in IT sales which I didn’t enjoy, so I began looking for something else. There was a regional sales manager's job for the north of the UK at a company called tvONE. I had never heard of them, but I got a really good feeling from the staff I met. When I was offered the job, I had no hesitation in accepting.

What is your work highlight at tvONE?

I’ve had many highlights, but one of my favorites is with our distribution partner Green Sources.

The first time I went to visit Green Sources in India they asked me if there was anything specific that I wanted to do whilst I was there.

I play and have enjoyed playing cricket since I was at school, and still play for a local team (Hovingham Cricket Club) on Saturday afternoons. Knowing the Indian cricket bat manufactures are some of the best in the world, I wanted to buy a new bat whilst I was there. So, I asked if at some point when we had some free time they could point me in the direction of a cricket bat shop.

On my final day with Green Sources and on my way back to the airport, they took me to a well-known sports equipment supplier who specialized in cricket equipment. The owners of the shop’s son spent a lot of time with me letting me look and get a feel of a range of bats until I finally made my choice.

As I tried to pay, my host, Hitesh Bhimjyani, told me that the bill had been settled as a gift from Green Sources for my time and efforts during my visit! I was obviously lost for words and extremely thankful.

Anyway, fast forward a few years and last weekend I scored my maiden century, in fact my final score was 101 not out and I was using the bat given to me by Green Sources!

What is your favorite product (or feature) and why?

It’s an older one, the 1T-C2-750. It seems so simple, but is hugely powerful and can provide so many different solutions to so many problems.

What is one thing that you are excited about that is coming up this year?

Visiting customers again!  It’s been a long time and I can't wait to get that interaction again.

What is the first concert you attended?

What are your hobbies – how do you chill after work?

I have 2 young children, so there is no “chill” after work! I enjoy cycling and playing cricket, but any sport will do!
